What is the Homes from the Heart program?

' Home from the Heart Program is an international effort created to involve our and brokers in raising funds.  These funds will be used to support community-based organizations that provide housing opportunities to needy families.

Why should we participate?

As successful real estate professionals we are indeed very fortunate.  We are able to earn comfortable livings by assisting homebuyers and home sellers with their transactions.  Many individuals in our communities are less fortunate.  Many are living in crowded, substandard housing.  It is important that we give something back to the communities in which we do business.  What better way for REALTORS® to give back to their communities then by assisting families who might otherwise never be able to own a home of their own?

How can we help?

Simple.  The Homes from the Heart program is designed to allow agents to designate a set amount from each of their commissions to be earmarked for these efforts.

How will these funds be collected?

After completing a pledge card, your account will be flagged in our system.  Each time you close a transaction, your designated donation will be transferred to a non-profit fund that will disperse the money into appropriate housing programs.

Do I have to participate?

Participation in this valuable and exciting effort is completely voluntary.  However, we feel that we have devised a means of making a significant impact in our communities by requesting only nominal pledge amounts.

Where will this money go?

We have designed our program so that every donation made can remain in the greater community in which the lives and works, can help fund company-wide build efforts or a combination of both.  We recommend that at least 10% be earmarked for the International Convention work projects and other company-wide programs.

What is in this for me?

Aside from the satisfaction you will receive by knowing that you are part of a large effort that will significantly impact the lives of those less fortunate, there are other benefits.  We feel that by collectively embracing an important cause such as this one, will enjoy enhanced visibility in their communities and the reputation of being caring, committed citizens.

Why Habitat for Humanity?

The Homes from the Heart program is designed to be flexible.  Since we are an international company, we feel strongly that Habitat for Humanity has already established itself as a reputable, international entity.  However, in some communities it may make more sense for us to support other organizations. 

This is great!  I'm sold!  Are there other ways I can help?

Absolutely.  In addition to funding the construction of Habitat homes, we will be organizing volunteers to help with the construction of these homes.  Thousands of hours of volunteer time go into building each Habitat home, and we want to be a visible part of this.
